A Cleco pin is a spring-loaded fastener that fits into a pre-drilled hole, clamping two metal sheets tightly together. It acts like a temporary rivet, holding the material in place while fitting or repositioning work is done. Clecos can be quickly removed and reinstalled as needed to keep the panels aligned throughout the process. These fasteners are installed and removed using a dedicated pair of Cleco pliers—a handy tool you’ll find yourself using frequently.

Directions for Use

Position the panels - Place one panel over the other in the desired position where you want to join them.
Drill the hole - At each fastening point, drill through both panels using a 3/16″ drill bit.
Load the cleco into pliers - Squeeze the Cleco pliers to compress a cleco fastener.
Insert the cleco - While holding the pliers compressed, insert the cleco into the drilled hole, then release the pliers so the fastener locks in place.
Repeat along the joint - Continue drilling and inserting clecos at the required spacing until the panels are secured.
Remove when finished - To remove, use the pliers to compress the cleco and pull it out of the hole.
